Getting to know Samuel Parke Photography
Fun, Quality, Value
What inspired you to become a wedding photographer?
I have been photographing since I was a child, where I started by capturing photos of my LEGO figures. This, over time, turned into using my passion to capture wedding days!
What do you love most about being involved in the wedding industry?
I really enjoy being able to capture my couple’s wedding day for not just them, but for their kids and their kid’s kids. I also cherish being able to capture the big party (reception) with them surrounded by the people they love!
Can you tell us about the most memorable wedding you have captured?
I recently shot a wedding where the couple were really into Dungeons and Dragons. All the groomsmen had swords in which they did a guard of honour – they even cut the cake with a massive sword!
What is your favourite photo of all time?
My favourite photo of all time is a picture I took after dinner at a wedding. We went out to the chapel, and I took a foreground shot of the bride and groom. I almost left it there but then looking up, I saw the beautiful Milky Way in all its glory! I pointed my camera directly towards it and took the background shot. This was my first time really creating an image in Photoshop out of composites. LOVE that image.
Sam’s suggestions for making the most of your photography include…
- I believe you should find someone that you both like and feel comfortable around, as a major part of your special day is spent with your photographer around – think of your photographer as the extra member of your wedding party!
- Chat with me to make a photography timeline of the day so we are all on the same page. If I can know all the small details you’ve put so much effort into, I can capture it all for you to be able to reminisce over for years to come!
- From a photographic perspective, late afternoon/ sunset is the optimum time of day to capture the best shots.
Sam’s passion for photography and weddings just shines through, doesn’t it? It’s been such a pleasure getting to know him and we can’t wait to follow all the amazing photos that come next!
