Getting to know Lifetime In A Day Films

Genuine, Personal Service

What inspired you to become videographers?

Our own wedding photographer’s life went off the rails soon after our wedding and failed to deliver photos for us and a number of other couples. It taught us the importance of the memories made and captured on a wedding day. With video skills from a number of years producing other video content, we decided to start filming weddings and help couples relive those memories for a lifetime.

What do you love most about working in the wedding industry?

We love getting to know our couples and celebrating with them on their wedding day. We also enjoy meeting and building relationships with the other vendors we team up with to make the couple’s day happen.

Can you tell us about the most memorable wedding you have captured?

Dana and Will’s! They are a beautiful young couple who were planning a marquee wedding on their own property.

The marquee was setup on Thursday for a Saturday wedding. Less than two hours after setup was finished, a storm front came through and there was 3+ inches of water flowing through the tent.

While this was happening, the Maid of Honour tested positive for COVID and went into isolation.

An alternate venue had to be found, with friends rallying around to make it happen. However, the food truck they booked decided that there was too much rain around and cancelled on Friday morning. A local restaurant came to the rescue at the last minute!

On the day of the wedding, it was overcast, with no real rain around… until the middle of the outdoor ceremony, with 10 minutes of heavy rain! Just as we were about to wrap up the portrait session with photo and video the sun broke through the clouds and gave them a beautiful sunset.

Even though the setbacks they faced would have had us frazzled, Dana and Will overcame it all with so much grace. At the end of the night when they had their first dance it was as though the room was empty and it was just them. It was truly something magical!

What is your favourite moment to capture on a couple’s wedding day and why?

Vows!

We use a lot of audio from the day in our films and personal vows are a big part of that. Not only are they making important promises, but they are telling a story that is uniquely them.

Videography trends, planning and advice with Justin and Kirsten…

  • Your videographers will be with you for a large part of one of the best days of your life. Find someone who you feel comfortable with and that you can be yourself around.
  • We want to get to know our couples before the wedding day so they can feel comfortable with us. We want to know what is important to them so we can make sure we capture those moments. This is the key to the day running smoothly.
  • We are seeing people use a first look before the ceremony as a way to help calm nerves and anxieties.

Kirsten and Justin’s love for videography and weddings shines through in their work.
