Getting to know Denim & Lace Photography

Fun, Quality, Down to Earth

What inspired you to become a photographer?

My kids.

I started off taking photos of them every day to capture as many moments as possible when they were little. I then started my business doing newborn and family photos. Unexpectedly, I was thrown into the wedding industry, something I did not think I would actually like doing, but it turns out I love it! Weddings are now my favorite thing to capture.

Can you tell us about the most memorable wedding you have captured?

That’s a hard one, as I have so many weddings that I will always remember and love every moment of. However, Dean and Rebecca’s wedding at the Pullman Sea Temple in Port Douglas is one I tell everyone about. Not only was I lucky enough to be their photographer, but I also got to be one of their witnesses. They flew up to Port Douglas to have their ceremony in the beautiful tropics. With only five people present at their ceremony, including themselves, the celebrant, the other witness and myself, it was beautiful. After capturing some beautiful moments after the ceremony, we all got to sit down for lunch. That day I definitely made some new friends for life, and we have all decided to meet up every year on their anniversary.

What is your favourite moment to capture on a couple’s wedding day and why?

I love when I am able to pull the couple aside for photos. Capturing the love is what I am there for and when the two of them have a moment by themselves for the first time on the day, their love really shows.

I also love capturing anything fun! Think jumping castles, mad dance moves and my personal favourite, a beer race!

What trends are you seeing right now in your segment of the wedding industry?

One trend I’m seeing is where bridesmaids each have different colour dresses or the same colour dress but in different styles. I love this! Not only does it give bridesmaids the chance to choose a dress they feel good in (which makes a difference to how they feel about getting their photo taken), it also adds so much depth and texture to the wedding photos!

What is your favourite photo of all time?

It’s one of my kids, in a moment that was completely unplanned but captured the absolute joy on all three of their faces.

We’re just absolutely in love with Denim & Lace Photography’s happy and authentic style! Thanks for joining our vendor community, Kaddiesha!
